DOROTHEA TANNING — CHASM: A WEEKEND

Dorothea Tanning Chasm

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Dorothea Tanning

I was reading this on a train to Antwerp, loving the first 50 or so pages, where dark clouds of weirdness amass and we know there’s a weirdo at the heart of this thing who has some unspeakable perversions we’ll probably hear about later… but wouldn’t you know it, I left the novel on the train. And this really broke me up because M wrote me a personal note in it. I remembered a few words of the note but she remembered the whole thing. She got me another copy and wrote out a new note. And all was well. But then the novel… lost me.
